As the State of Arizona’s contract with a vendor who hosted and maintained the State’s web portal was expiring, B&D NA was contracted to migrate all existing applications over to the AWS Cloud Platform as well as integrate those applications with a new payment processing application.
Customer Issue:
ADOA-ASET’s Web Applications were using different technologies which complicated both ongoing support and maintenance. The application servers were old, slow, prone to outages, and out of support. There were also tight dependencies between the applications sharing instances as well as many external dependencies on mainframes and payment engines.
Solution and Outcomes:
Following a thorough discovery and documentation of all applications and their processes, B&D NA developed a migration strategy and timeline with an eye towards avoiding extra complexity. Re-architecting the applications and processes for better stability and availability by leveraging Amazon Web Services cloud platform wherever possible. As a result, ADOA-ASET experienced an estimated cost saving and avoidance of more than $2 million. In addition to getting their internal support team freed up to spend more time on innovation and development instead of maintenance, ADOA-ASET has drastically improved availability and the ease of on-boarding new agency customers. Their newly gained agility and efficiency now allow them to deliver innovations within the business of government.
