Position Summary

The Junior Business Analyst at Mi-Case is responsible for supporting the analytical functions of the organization. This position provides experience and exposure to various aspects of analysis, including planning, elicitation, requirements gathering, user story development, and problem-solving. The Junior Business Analyst will work closely with project team members to contribute to organizational goals and objectives while leveraging modern tools and AI-assisted technologies to maximize productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering & Documentation: Document business processes, requirements, wireframes, user stories, and specifications. Utilize MS Visio for system and process analysis and tools like Balsamiq for prototyping and mockups.
  • Data Analysis: Assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to extract meaningful insights and trends, including the use of SQL for detailed data analysis and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and product managers to gather information, share insights, and define functional and technical requirements. Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • AI-Assisted Analysis: Leverage AI tools effectively to enhance productivity across research, documentation, data analysis, and process mapping activities. Identify opportunities to apply AI assistance appropriately while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Assist in identifying and solving business challenges through data-driven approaches and analytical thinking.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure data accuracy, documentation integrity, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Research: Conduct research on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices within the justice and public safety sector to support decision-making processes.
  • Presentation: Prepare and present completed work to internal team members and clients in a clear, professional manner.
  • Project Support: Provide support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, and implementation.

Educational and Training Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in business analysis or a related role.
  • Certification in business analysis (e.g., ECBA, CCBA) preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business problems into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with or ability to learn Azure DevOps for requirements management and work item tracking.
  • Ability to learn new domains quickly and develop subject matter expertise.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities across projects.
  • Ability to manage scope and stakeholder expectations appropriately.
  • Willingness to learn and effectively utilize AI-assisted tools to enhance work quality and efficiency.

Environmental and/or Physical Factors

  • Remote work environment with informal dress code, unless attending career fairs or client-facing meetings.
  • Extended periods working at a computer terminal.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to walk and reach.
  • Standard work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the employee's local time zone; extended hours or weekend work may occasionally be required to meet project deadlines.
